  1. How do I become a member/join/register?
Users of the Free Resume Creator may join from within the program itself. At the end of the creation process on the Preview page, click the Save to Account button. You will arrive at the free membership sign-up page. There you can create both the username and password of your choosing. You are not required to join, you can create and edit your resume without joining, but the program is much more feature-rich if you do.
  2. I never received my Activation email. Can it be resent?
Yes, the activation email can be resent. Go to the Activation page and enter your username, password, and a different email address from another domain, like Gmail or Yahoo. Some of our users have been experiencing a problem with their email services blocking emails sent by our server. Some email services like AT&T, Bellsouth, or Sbcglobal, for example, mistakenly block our emails. Add thepcmanwebsite.com to your safe-sender list or use a different email address like Yahoo or Gmail since you didn't receive the email at your original address.
  3. Why can't I log in to my account?
If you can't log in and get an Access Denied message, make sure you already activated your account. Be sure that you have cookies enabled. We use cookies to log you in. Be sure you are using the EXACT username and password. Verify that you are using the proper case. Did you use either the upper case or lower case letters you used when you joined? Are you sure that you are using the correct username and password? To check, go to the resend page and have your login information resent to the email address you entered on your resume. If you are sure you are entering the correct username and password, but you still can't log in, close your browser to end your current session. Open a new browser window, go to the Login page and try it again.

If after those steps you still can't log in. Please contact us for support. Make sure you send your request from the email address you have listed on your resume. We ask this so we can verify your identity. In your support request, state the problem you are having. We also use the email address you entered on your resume to find your account in the system.
  4. How can I save my resume if I don't join?
After finishing your resume go to the Preview page. At the bottom, click one of the "Save" buttons. Select a format to export your resume to download your finished resume. Click the "Edit File" button so you can download a file used to edit your resume in the future.
  5. How can I edit my resume if I don't join?
If you downloaded the resume Edit file (resume-edit-fileXX-XX-XX.htm) all you need to do is double-click it. It will bring you to the Edit page with all your information pre-loaded into the program. If you didn't download the resume Edit file you must recreate your resume manually. We do not store any of your information unless you permit us to do so by joining.
  6. Can The PCman help me write my resume?
The PCman doesn't provide any hands-on writing help. Instead, we provide a multitude of useful tips within the program itself, in our Job and Career Help section, writing help page, and our action verbs page.
  7. How do I write an effective resume directory description?
We provide help with a short tutorial explaining the basics of writing your description on our directory description help page. The page also contains several examples.
  8. Why weren't my resume changes saved?
A logged-in member must still click the "Save To Account" button on the Preview page to save any updates and changes. Please be aware, the system will only save your changes when you click the "Save To Account" button. For both members and non-members, click the Save buttons on the Preview page to export your resume (download your finished resume.) Also, click the "Edit File" button so you can download the file to edit your resume in the future. For members, aside from logging in, this action will back up their data.
  9. If I make my resume public, will my info be seen by everyone?
Some of it, when your resume is public, your house number, street and, telephone/cell phone number are not displayed. Visitors will see your email address, but in an obscured manner, so employers may still contact you. The reason to post your resume online is to show your skills to potential employers. With that in mind, some of your information has to be available online. We feel the directory shows the minimum amount of information necessary to get a job. Of course, it is your choice to make it public or private. You can make this choice both when you create the account and in your account on the "Edit Profile" page. Members are not required to post in the directory. We provide this optional service to help members who wish to take advantage of this great benefit.
  10. Where do I change the email address for my user account?
The email address you used on your resume is also used for your member's account to send your resume and remind you of your password. To change your user account's email address, simply change the email address on your resume within the creator program on the Contact Information page.
  11. What does The PCman do with the information I enter?
It is only used in conjunction with your resume. It is not used in any other manner. For non-members, none of it is stored. That is why if you don't download your resume or Edit file and you leave the creator program, your information will be gone. For members, your information is stored in our database. It is only accessed by this program and then only accessed:
      a. By you when you log in to your account.
      b. By the directory if you made your resume public.
      c. By us if you ask us for account support.
      d. System updates and maintenance.
You can view our privacy policy for more information.
