  1. How do I become a member/join/register?
Users of the Free Resume Creator may join from within the program itself. At the end of the creation process on the Preview page, press the Save to Account button. You will arrive at the membership sign-up page where you can create both the user name and password of your choosing. You are not required to join, you can create and edit your resume without joining, but the program becomes much more feature-rich if you do.
  2. I never received my Activation email can it be resent?
Yes, the activation email can be resent. Go to the Activation page and enter your user name, password and another email address from another domain, like Gmail or Yahoo. Some of our users have been experiencing a problem with their email services blocking emails sent by our server. Some email services like AT&T, Bellsouth, or Sbcglobal, for example, mistakenly block our emails. Add thepcmanwebsite.com to your whitelist or use a different email address like Yahoo or Gmail since you didn't receive the email at your original address.
  3. Why can't I log in to my account?
If you can't log in and are getting an Access Denied message, make sure you already activated your account. Be sure that you have cookies enabled. We use cookies to log you in. Be sure you are using the EXACT username and password. That you are using the proper case, meaning the upper case or lower case that you used when you joined. Are you sure that you are using the correct username and password? To check, go to the resend page and have your login information resent to the email address you entered on your resume. If you are sure you are entering the correct username and password, but you still can't log in, close your browser to end your current session. Open a new browser window, go to the Login page and try it again.

If after that you still can't log in please contact us for support. Make sure you send your request from the email address you have listed on your resume. We ask this so we can verify your identity. In your support request, state the problem you are having. We also use the email address you entered on your resume to find your account in the system.
  4. How can I save my resume if I don't join?
After finishing your resume go to the Preview page. At the bottom, press one of the "Save" buttons. Select a format to export your resume to download your finished resume. Press the "Edit File" button so you can download a file used to edit your resume in the future.
  5. How can I edit my resume if I don't join?
If you downloaded the resume Edit file (resume-edit-fileXX-XX-XX.htm) then all you need to do is double-click it. It will bring you to the Edit page with all of your information pre-loaded into the program. If you didn't download the resume Edit file, then you will have to recreate your resume manually. We do not store any of your information unless you permit us to do so by joining.
  6. Can The PCman help me write my resume?
The PCman doesn't provide any hands-on writing help, but we do provide a multitude of useful tips within the program itself, in our Job and Career Help section, writing help page and our action verbs page.
  7. How do I write an effective resume directory description?
We provide help with a short tutorial explaining the basics of writing your description on our directory description help page, it also contains several examples.
  8. Why weren't my resume changes saved?
A logged-in member must still press the "Save To Account" button on the Preview page; otherwise, their changes will not be saved. Please be aware the system will only save your changes when you press the "Save To Account" button. For both members and non-members, while you are on the Preview page, press the Save buttons to export your resume (download your finished resume.) Also, press the "Edit File" button so you can download the file to edit your resume in the future. For members, this will back up their data.
  9. Will my personal info be seen by everyone if I make my resume public?
Some of it, when your resume is public, your house number, street, telephone number, and cell phone number are NOT displayed. Visitors will see your email address, but in an obscured manner so employers may still contact you. The reason to post your resume online is to show your skills to potential employers. With that in mind, some of your information has to be available online. We feel that what the directory shows is the minimum amount necessary for you to get a job. Of course, it is your choice to make it public or private. You can make this choice both when you create the account and in your account on the "Edit Profile" page. Members are NOT required to post in the directory. We provide this optional service to help members who wish to take advantage of this great benefit.
  10. Where do I change the email address for my user account?
The email address that you used on your resume is also used for your member's account to send your resume and remind you of your password. To change your user account's email address, simply change the email address on your resume within the creator program on the Contact Information page.
  11. What does The PCman do with the information I enter?
It is only used in conjunction with your resume. It is not used in any other manner. For non-members, none of it is stored. That is why if you don't download your resume or Edit file and you leave the creator program, your information will be gone. For members your information is stored in our database, it is only accessed by this program and then only accessed:
      a. By you when you log in to your account.
      b. By the directory if you made your resume public.
      c. By us if you ask us for account support.
      d. System updates and maintenance.
You can view our privacy policy for more information.
  12. What's the catch? Why does The PCman provide this program for free?
Is This Free? Yes, there is no catch, The PCman wants to give back to the web community. The system is ad supported which pays all the costs for our users.
