What are Cookies? What are they for?

A website can use Cookies to store information on your computer. To keep track of when you revisit their site or temporarily store information that is used while you are using a program on that website, Many times websites that require you to login will need you to enable cookies. They store information on your computer that tells the website you are logged as you move from page to page on that website. Most of the time the cookies are harmless and they let you have custom options tailored to your preferences on a website. This way you can have the customization that you want without having to log-in to the website. Also, from the website's point of view they can offer custom features without having to store all of that information on their server. Consider the storage space needed for a site with millions of users. Some cookies can be used for less reputable reasons
